Miami Children's Hospital

Today, Jesse will receive tubes in his ears to help drain the accumulated fluid. This is a same day surgery.
When we arrived at Miami Children's Hospital we were told our ENT Dr. was delayed with an emergency surgery so we hung out in the resource Ctr. First time Jesse has been on a ride on toy. I will be buying him one soon. Even though he was not pushing with his feet. I am sure with the help of his awesome PT Janice it will not take him long to figure it out...

Finally we were taken to Pre-OP. So, I must get this off my chest.. When it was time to take Jesse back, one of the nurses told me that she was getting his medicine. It was a liquid in a syringe, he didn't seem to like it and spit some out (good boy). She went back to get more and as she started to give him more I asked her what she was giving him and she said (i believe) Valium.. to help sedate and relax him. I was livid.. Why don't they ask parent's if we want to dope up our kids unnecessarily!! She said some kids have a hard time transitioning to the nurse and going back to the operating room. Ok, I get this but my kid would be fine, this I am 100% positive of. I think it is just easier for nurses and Dr's to dope up kids to make their job's easier.. I should have been asked what my child was like and if he is likely to have a hard time? As soon as she gave him the med's his eyes glazed over like he had just smoked weed...ughh

Before medication, great pointer finger Jesse! (he just learned)

Before Medication..

After....

Off he goes...

Good Luck Jesse!

Once he was taken back to the operating room, things went very quickly. The surgery itself is only about 10 min. It was about an hour from when they took him till we saw him in the recovery room.

On our way back HOME! :)
